Halfway between Buenos Aires and the great national parks of Patagonia, there’s a rather flat splay of land connected to the mainland by a slender isthmus called Carlos Ameghino. While the peninsula itself looks pretty inhospitable to wildlife - apart from armadillos, the odd Patagonian hare and ostrich-like rheas - its shores offer a front row seat for an exceptional display of marine life. Elephant seals, sea lions, Magellan penguins, and all kinds of sea birds populate its shores. And then there are the southern right whales that come to breed in this protected area between June and December.
Peninsula Valdes holidays offer a unique opportunity to watch these beautiful creatures up close. Truly unforgettable if we do say so ourselves.
