The Andes form the spine of the entire South American continent, running north to south and travelling along their length reveals fascinating extremes of landscapes: rugged mountains, high-altitude plateaus and foothills chiseled by the elements. Argentinian Andes holidays can take many forms: in the north of the country, there are vividly coloured ravines and vast white salt flats in perpetual sunshine.
Towards the middle: curious geological formations, staggering peaks and - surprisingly - vineyards. Then, heading south, there are forested mountains peppered with lakes, before you’re into austere, windswept Patagonia. Right at the bottom, the lower peaks are strewn with glaciers, such as the magnificent Perito Moreno. It’s quite a ride, wherever you go.
