Honeymoon in Africa: Namibia, Johannesburg, the Okavango Delta & Victoria Falls

Head south to reach the dunes in the Namib Desert, one of the oldest deserts in the world. The landscape here unlike anywhere on earth, with its pure lines and extraordinary palette of colours, where apricot, orange and red-tinted sands sit under an intense blue sky. Sublime and unspoiled. Admire the immense display of apricot-red sand dunes, which are among the highest in the world (some are over 1,100ft high) and surround an ancient dried salt lake, bordered by beautiful acacias.
Set up camp for two nights in Sesriem, in a magnificent lodge at the entrance of the national park: the vast tents face onto the giant apricot-coloured dunes, and feature skybeds for those who want to sleep under the stars.
Activities - Climb the dunes to survey the apricot-coloured landscapes - spend the day walking the dune corridor between Sesriem and Sossusvlei - encounter desert animals, including oryx, springboks, ostriches, jackals and other birds.

Drive to Walvis Bay for a two-night stay overlooking the stunning lagoon with its pink flamingos and dolphins, a small pocket of nature within its own cosy and silent universe. Perfect service, attention to detail and wonderful food await.
Located in the heart of a former German colony, Walvis Bay has only been part of Namibia since 1994, when the city's sovereignty was transferred from South Africa. The area is rich in marine wildlife, thanks to the Benguela Current which flows here and encourages plankton growth.
On your agenda - A cruise to see the lagoon's wildlife followed by a 4x4 drive to the nature reserve at Sandwich Harbour, where the Namib dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean.
Things to see and do - Discover the nearby town of Swakopmund, featuring early 20th century Germanic architecture that looks as though it's been transplanted from the Baltic coast; take a wander around, or sample the sweet treats on offer on Kaiser Wilhelm Strasse - play a round of golf beside the beach - take a trip to see the ancient Welwitchias Mirabilis plants at Moon Valley.

Drive to Windhoek before flying to Johannesburg. Private transfer to Satyagraha House. Situated in the tranquil Orchards district, this thatched house was home to Mohandas Gandhi from 1908 to 1909. The site now houses a museum dedicated to him, as well as a guesthouse based around the principles that inspired the future Mahatma's famous philosophy. The bright and simple rooms here (two of which face directly into the museum area) are comfortable without being extravagant, while the vegetarian cuisine on offer is tasty and fortifying. This historic Kraal designed by Hermann Kallenbach (architect and friend of Gandhi) and the contemporary building skilfully added by Rocco Bosman each pay tribute to the spirit of openness and peace that inspired one of the great political and humanitarian minds of the 20th century.

Private transfer to the airport before flying to Maun, Botswana, followed by a private helicopter flight to reach a reserve in the Kwai region, where a private camp awaits. while the falls themselves are among the most spectacular in the world. Located between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the majestic Zambezi River plunges furiously into a 310ft-high void with a deafening roar. At one-and-a-quarter miles wide, the falls can be seen from over 12 miles away, and heard more than 20 miles away. There are small walking paths to explore above the abyss, but despite its popularity, the site remains wild and unspoiled, featuring lush vegetation, forest trails and suspension bridges. An absolute must-see.
