As a country made up of two islands that both boast an array of wild and wonderful landscapes, New Zealand October holidays are guaranteed to be filled with adventure and stark beauty. Spring is in full swing in New Zealand in October. Flowers burst into bloom, little lambs bounce around the hillsides and waterfalls cascade over cliffsides filled with spring rains. With temperatures ranging from four to 18 degrees Celsius, there are almost endless opportunities on offer, from exploring wonderfully wild beaches on Cape Reinga to heading for the hills in Abel Tasman for challenging hikes, or even
enjoying a spot of skiing at the end of the season. If you’re brave, October can be a great time to give whitewater rafting a go in Rotorua, although a wetsuit is a must, as snowmelt makes the waters chilly. The North Island is quieter in terms of crowds so is a great place to head if you want peace and tranquility, but for prolonged winter sports, South Island is your best bet.
